Honored to be a
Wf1 Truthteller!
Last month I had the privilege of being a Women for One Featured Truthteller. I was so honored to be considered for this opportunity; I was also quite afraid. In my work with Lotus Sojourns I am passionate about helping women connect to their story and step into their power during this process, but I realized that there was a part of me that was holding back from doing the same things I am asking of my community.
I met Kelly McNellis at an event earlier this year, and I immediately fell in love with the work she is doing. She too feels passionately about creating a place for women to share their story and feel empowered by their words; and her community of Truthtellers is my TRIBE! I knew that she and I would find a way to work together with aligned visions, but I had no idea what a gift she’d give me.
When she sent me the description of what she wanted me to do as a Truthteller I thought, this is great, this will be so easy, I have so many things I would love to share. However, as I really sat quiet to reflect on what I would share, I found that the story that was waiting to come out was one that wasn’t so easy to tell and was one that I was, honestly, quite happy to keep to myself. As I continued to reflect, I realized that this opportunity Kelly had given me was the ladder I could prop up against this wall around myself and climb over. Up until the last minute before it was published I thought about taking it back, putting it back into the shadowy corner where it has lived for over 20 years; but as soon as I knew it was posted to their website I felt this giant weight lifted! I cannot tell you how freeing this experience was for me. I don’t have to hide, I don’t have to feel shame, or guilt or grief…it is just one part of my story and now the power that it holds is mine!
Three things cannot hide for long:
